Tata Punch EV now available with BaaS! Tata Motors is offering the new Punch EV facelift with the option of Battery as a Service, wherein you can get the battery on loan, thereby bringing down the upfront cost of acquiring the vehicle. The starting price of the base 30kWh trim with BaaS has been announced as Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), along with Rs 2.6 per kilometre, assuming a vehicle usage of 60km per day. While the 60km daily usage assumption does seem like a significant number, we await confirmation from Tata as to what it really means, and how much minimum exact amount would customers be charged if they choose to opt for BaaS. Opting for BaaS also qualifies you for a Buyback program, which ranges from 60% value in 3 years to 40% value in 5 years. Moreover, the ‘lifetime’ battery warranty on the larger 40kWh pack is limited to the first owner, that too for a period of 15 years from the date of registration, and not beyond that.
