Night Carrier Landings are NUTS!

If anyone ever says to you, “Landing on a carrier at night is easy… show them this real-time video of an F-14 approach to an arrested landing at night. Pretty scary approach, but the Navy pilots make it look easy! I tried this in an F-14 simulator at NAS Oceana with a RAG Instructor in the backseat, calm seas at night, with over three thousand flying hours in the KC-135. It took me FIVE attempts to finally land on the carrier deck, and my heart was just RACING when I finally did it. These carrier pilots are a special breed to do this at night.
