The buyer, Paramount boss David Ellison, got his prize after a months-long takeover battle with Netflix. The streaming pioneer suddenly walked away from perhaps its only chance to own the studio, which vies with Disney for the title of Hollywood’s most celebrated. So it’s over. Or perhaps not quite.
