Description

Bremer Bay Orca Season 2026 was remarkable, showcasing incredible and first-ever documented moments spent with our beloved Orca family pods. From beginning to end, it was a phenomenal season, marked by the arrival of new calves into the family, the reunion with old Orca friends after many seasons apart and the well-known matriarchs demonstrating once again why they are the ocean's apex predators and exceptional leaders and mothers to their family pods. Highlight from our season were many and we have highlighted just a few, these images and video have been put together by our team celebrating some of their favourite moments this Orca season. Our team was honoured and thrilled to witness, for the very first time, Type B Orca interacting with the Orca of Bremer Bay! This incredible experience was exceptionally rare, as it marked the first observation of two different Orca ecotypes engaging in this manner in Australian waters. An impressive pod of more than 150 Type C Orca was observed visiting the Bremer Canyons this season as well. Witnessing so many of the smallest Orca ecotype on our planet was truly remarkable and an unforgettable experience, yet another first for our team. This season marked the first documented predation of a Fin Whale in these waters, a heartbreaking event to witness unfold. It was an extraordinary hunt as the Orca journeyed over 30 kilometers from the depths of the Bremer Canyons to the coastline of Bremer Bay. Seeing the Orca hearing the calls of the Fin Whale from such a distance was remarkable, highlighting just how perilous this coastline can be for the baleen whales targeted by these Orca. This season was truly remarkable, marked by the arrival of new Orca babies, sightings of many unique and wonderful species seldom seen in the wild and the wonderful company of our fantastic crew and Pod Members making this such a special season. We are eagerly counting down the days until Season 2027, and we cannot wait to share memorable moments with our amazing Orca family. Next year marks a significant milestone as we celebrate our tenth Orca season and we hope you will Join The Pod and be a part of all the fun!
