‘High casualties’ likely if Trump deploys US troops to seize Iran’s Kharg Island

Former US Army lieutenant colonel Daniel Davis has cast doubt over speculation that US President Donald Trump could deploy troops to seize Iran’s key oil export hub, Kharg Island. “From a military perspective, it doesn't even matter what the target is; those few numbers of troops are not going to change the dynamic in a war against a country that's four times bigger than the size of Iraq,” Mr Davis told Sky News Australia. “It is extremely difficult to get in there, and the casualties will probably be high if they succeed at all. “I hope they don't try.”
