TWO Queens in ONE Swarm?!

I’m always on the lookout for extra queens when I catch smaller after-swarms, and this one didn’t disappoint. First, I spotted a tiny, newly emerged queen with a hairy thorax, but then I found another. 🐝 Normally, only one queen should survive, but after-swarms don’t always follow the rules. Sometimes two or more queens end up flying together, and that’s exactly what happened here. — © Hinterland Bees
