These modules differ from standard DDR5 by using half the typical number of integrated chips. Standard DDR5 modules utilize dual 32 bit subchannels, but HUDIMM uses a single 32 bit subchannel. This design reduces both bandwidth and throughput. Despite these technical limitations, early benchmarks show gaming performance remains similar to standard modules. Consumers should stay alert because prebuilt systems might list these as standard DDR5 despite the hardware differences.
