Why Divers Break Sea Urchins on Purpose 🐟

When divers collect sea urchins, they sometimes crack open these valuable creatures and feed them to nearby fish. It sounds wasteful — but it actually benefits the diver. Most fish can’t break open sea urchins on their own, so when a diver does it for them, the fish begin guiding the diver to places where more urchins are hiding. It becomes a kind of underwater partnership.
