More About "Bill":
Lilith prepares dinner for her husband Bill, but his relentless misogynistic comments push her to a breaking point, stabbing him to death in a sudden outburst. Manic, she attempts to revive him by turning him into a puppet-like figure to possess, eventually going out for drinks in his silent company; meanwhile, despite the evident circumstances, the waiter hands the corpse the bill.
Director's Statement:
Bill is an absurdist film for an increasingly absurd world to be living in as a woman. Growing up in a supposed “age of neofeminism,” I saw a conflict between a narrative I had been taught about female empowerment and what I actually witnessed - men dominating professional environments, and men creating the rules for how women should operate and appear. The frequency of these observations only accelerated as I entered the workforce in an industry dominated by men.
The paradoxical nature of this experience is what connected me to Bill. The film is a reflection on the uncomfortable truths surrounding generations of women who’ve settled for men content in the role of puppeteer. Bill isn’t just a story about the breaking of chains: it’s a comedic exploration of autonomy - and what to do while wielding control over the opposite gender for the first time ever.
