Description

June 2, 2026 Finally filmed a video of this crossing deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Redwood Forest. This crossing is also a knock down prone signal crossing being the right signals cantilever being knocked down several times. The SCBG Railroad either got another used RACO to replace it or they kept using spare parts to repair the same cantilever back together and the latter seems more possible. Due to the knockdowns, the cantilever was mostly modernized. The left one however remained mostly original besides its bell replacement even keeping the lights shutting off when the gates rise up sequence. As you can see, the left signals lights flasher relay got stuck eventually releasing to flash. I have filmed this twice this day but from the same side as there is no other room across the way by the left signal to film from. Also, to get the approach to this crossing most people film from this area. This was also the beach trains 2nd day of the summer daily run season and it was early in the season and not yet a crowd going to the Beach Boardwalk so not too many passengers were on this train yet and also the same reason it's not as long. Later on this month and year this train will have a lot of passengers in prime summertime. Santa Cruz Big Trees & Pacific Roaring Camp Railroad beach train runs southbound passing through Highway 9 railroad crossing (CA SR 9) in Santa Cruz, California. I also included distant horn sounds of the Roaring Camp SCBG 2600 Crossing Info City: Santa Cruz, California Crossing Signal/Line Owner: Santa Cruz & Big Trees Railroad (SCBG) Crossing User: SCBG Bell Sequence: Ring till gate start to rise.
