A 71-year-old man from the United Kingdom has been dubbed the ‘Lionel Messi of walking football’ after captaining England to three major international titles. Spencer Pratten took up the slower-paced version of football around a decade ago and has since led England to two World Cups and a European Nations Cup. He was recently named World Player of the Year by the Federation of International Walking Football Associations, scoring 44 goals in 55 appearances for the over-60s national team. Pratten said the growing sport has transformed his life and hopes it could one day become an Olympic event.
