Description
Finland's Homelessness is Rising. Help Us Find Out Why https://gofund.me/ac4a4471c
What is happening in Finland could happen anywhere. For 12 consecutive years, Finland reduced homelessness from over 20,000 people to less than 4,000. Then leadership changed. Politics shifted. And homelessness started going back up.
We need to pay attention to that. We need to learn from it.
Communities across the United States are making real progress in reducing homelessness. But any victory that doesn't last is not a solution. If we don't understand why Finland's progress is reversing, we risk watching the same thing happen everywhere else.
Three years ago, Invisible People traveled to Finland and produced a documentary seen by over 3.5 million people. It changed minds. It changed the conversation. It showed the world that homelessness is a choice we make as a society and that we can choose differently. Now we need to go back and find out what went wrong, and why it matters for every community fighting to end homelessness.
That's where you come in.
Social impact documentaries create real change. They raise awareness, inspire action, and encourage positive social change. Through compelling storytelling, they engage viewers emotionally, challenge narratives, and mobilize communities. These documentaries have the power to educate, advocate, and foster collective responsibility for creating a better future. Your donation will help Invisible People produce a powerful follow-up documentary that gets to the truth of what is happening in Finland and why it matters everywhere else.
We Need Your Help
We need to raise $10,000 to get this film into production. In the past, we have self-funded all of our video productions, but because of the economy, donations are down for a third year in a row. We believe the total cost will be around $40,000, which is significantly less than traditional documentary productions, but we need your help to get started.
Out of all the important topics we have highlighted with our storytelling, this may be the most important one. By helping us produce this documentary, you will be part of the solution to end homelessness. Each and every donation matters. Whether you can give $5, $25, or $250, you are helping ensure that the progress made against homelessness is never taken for granted.
Who We Are
Invisible People is a nonprofit media publisher using innovative storytelling, original journalism, and educational content to change public perceptions of homelessness and influence policy change. Founded in 2008, we have pioneered narrative change work long before most organizations recognized its power.
In 2025 alone, our content was viewed and engaged with over 400 million times across platforms. Our community has grown to more than 3 million people. Our award-winning documentaries and films have won a Streamy Award, multiple film festival awards, and have been recognized at festivals worldwide. We are the only nonprofit newsroom dedicated exclusively to homelessness and housing policy. No organization connects the public to homelessness to build empathy and drive real change like Invisible People.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
We Do Docs Differently
Unlike traditional documentary filmmaking, which is both expensive and time-consuming, our approach enables us to produce high-quality films at a fraction of the cost and get them in front of audiences within one to two months of shooting. Our documentaries are designed to be 15 to 30 minutes long, striking a balance between capturing attention and maintaining emotional impact. We focus on the personal narratives of people who have experienced homelessness firsthand. While we include expert perspectives to lend credibility, it is the power of personal stories that truly drives meaningful change.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every dollar goes toward producing content that educates, inspires, and drives real change.
Any victory that doesn't last is not a solution. Please give today. Any and every amount counts. Help us find out why before it happens everywhere else.
