Description
One or two Jungle Crows (aka large-billed crow; Corvus macrorhynchos, family Corvidae) repeatedly visited the overwintering den site of Japanese raccoon dogs (Nyctereutes viverrinus, family Canidae) in the snowy secondary forest. The crows curiously peeked into the entrance and pecked at the surface of lingering snow. You can also hear them calling each other. And a Japanese tit (aka Oriental tit; Parus minor minor, family Paridae) made a cameo appearance and perched briefly on a leafless side branch of giant dogwood (aka wedding cake tree; Cornus controversa, family Cornaceae) (1:50-). Captured from two angles with my new trailcams in the daytime of mid- and late-March 2025 in Japan.
