The only thing to rival the collapse of Highguard is the collapse of Ubisoft. Ending 2025 with another round of layoffs was the opening act for how they would begin 2026. Asking for 200 volunteers at their Paris office to take voluntary layoffs is adding an extra step to outright firings. Announcing several game cancellations and delays, including the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake (which had YEARS of development behind it already), really spells disaster for the remaining 11 months of the year for the once great studio.
