Description
We kick off with Dad conning a couple of bales out of me before I give him the underside of the mulch I wanted to use in the garden. Mum shows up at 7:10 and at 9:55 she moves in while Dad is distracted and grabs a quick curl grub before joining Dad under a bale. She's the second one to get involved and the first to leave.
Mum is looking a lot better than she did a few weeks ago. She's not quite done with her moult yet but she looked really rough a few weeks ago and she's looking a lot tidier now. The back of Dad's neck is still sketchy. I was very politely told he was a girl in the comments a week or so ago which is perfectly understandable given how dark his nape is.
At the moment they seem to be taking every other day off bales. Sometimes it's two days off but mostly one. That's good in a way – I'm not drowning in footage.
The chicks are still vaguely around but very shy – last seen together late yesterday afternoon. I suspect it'll be a while before we see one under a bale. A chick landed near the bales the other day, spotted me and immediately flew off. We'll see how it goes.
I've been getting sorted in the birdbath move. It'll be a few days yet but I'm done with Step 1. One down, several to go...
Cheers folks!
