Repotting My Hackberry, Tulip and Cork Bark Oak Trees, The Bonsai Zone, Mar 2026

My repotting my Chinese Hackberry (Celtis sinensis), my cork bark Oak (Quercus suber) and my Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera). Chinese Hackberry is a rapidly growing, flowering, deciduous tree in the hemp family (Cannabaceae) reaching 40 to 50 feet high and wide at maturity with a round, spreading crown. In its native Asia, it can be found on the lowlands and hills of Japan and the roadsides and slopes of China. Quercus suber, commonly called the cork oak, is a medium-sized, evergreen oak tree in the section Quercus sect. Cerris. It is the primary source of cork for wine bottle stoppers and other uses, such as cork flooring and as the cores of cricket balls. It is native to southwest Europe and northwest Africa. The Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) is a majestic, fast-growing Carolinian species native to Southern Ontario Canada, particularly near Lake Erie, Lake Huron, and the Niagara Peninsula.
