Summer calls for a road trip. So we loaded up the Citroen Aircross X, pointed it towards Nashik, and headed to Sula Fest — one of India's best festivals, for a weekend worth remembering. The route: Mumbai to Nashik via the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Fast, but far from perfect. Expansion joints, uneven patches, and sections where cars get unsettled at speed. This kind of stuff is what the Citroen Aircross X is actually built for. 5+2 seating configuration, and the 2 seats come out in seconds when you need more boot space or want to actually sit atop a hill with a nice view but no place to sit. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol paired with a torque converter, made the whole drive smooth and you never feel the need to shift down on a highway overtake. You always have power in the range and it never really feels out of breath. On top of all of that, you get ventilated seats, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and the Cara AI assistant that is more like a friend and has the natural humane touch to it. All of this in the the most affordable car in the mid-size SUV segment, plus 2 more seats, truly showcases what a value-for-money option this is.
