Closing the Gap - here we go again. Another year of broken promises, aboriginal people being failed and the country being divided on race. 30 years ago I was elected on the ideal of treating every Australian equally according to need - I was shouted down then too. Decades later, where has treating people differently on the basis of race gotten us? Billions of dollars poured into a corrupt industry which has no interest in taking care of people, residents in remote communities facing third world conditions and a country more divided on race than ever. Australia’s done it your way Lydia Thorpe, this race-based division, for 30 years and look where its gotten us. It’s time to try the One Nation way. No special treatment, no race based laws. Just equality for all Australians and a helping hand based on need - not race, religion or colour.
