World Cup watch party zone brings big crowds, business for restaurants

Seattle is just hours away from its first FIFA World Cup match, with the city preparing for what officials expect will be a massive game-day surge around the stadium and in Pioneer Square. The first of six World Cup matches in Seattle was set to kick off in just over 12 hours. The city was expecting 100,000 fans for game day in and around the stadium, with Pioneer Square designated as the heart of the action and the official pedestrian hub for the World Cup. Crowds had already been building at the watch party in Occidental Square.
