Description
After getting Limestone County's test in Athens, I attempted to catch at least one train on the CSX S&NA North Subdivision, but, unfortunately, nothing came through while I was there. After a bit of waiting, I needed to head onto Madison County. I was originally planning on heading for the other 2001-AC at UAH, but on this morning, the weather was potentially looking good for a test in Memphis, so I decided to head for this siren on Dunlop Boulevard instead. This 2001 had originally been located on Zierdt Road to the east, but, sometime between 2022 and 2023, it was relocated to the west on this part of Dunlop Boulevard, presumably to better cover the new development going on out here. In the process, however, its original metal tower was taken down and it was remounted onto a wooden pole, making it look a lot more like a siren you'd see within the city of Madison. This siren is just south of the line between the cities of Huntsville and Madison, placing it within the city of Huntsville.
I think I could hear one of the 2001s on Redstone Arsenal doing the extended test after the main Madison County test, but I wanted to try and get onto Memphis so I didn't bother trying to record it. Sadly, Memphis wound-up cancelling on this day, annoyingly.
Madison County, AL tests on the 1st Wednesday of every month at noon, weather permitting. If the test is unable to be conducted on the 1st Wednesday, it's then delayed to the 2nd Wednesday of the month at noon, weather permitting.
