Stede Bonnet (1688 – 1718) was a Barbadian pirate of English descent who sailed the Eastern Seaboard of the Thirteen Colonies with his crew. Despite his infamy, he was often nicknamed "The Gentleman Pirate", due in part to the fact that he was a moderately wealthy landowner prior to turning to piracy, owning a profitable sugar plantation in Barbados. Despite his contrasting upbringing, Stede became a likeable associate of several well-known pirates based in the Caribbean during the early 18th century, including Edward Kenway, Edward Thatch, Benjamin Hornigold, and Mary Read. Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a reckless privateer pulled into the secret war between Assassins and Templars. As Edward chases fortune across the Caribbean, his journey takes him through naval battles, hidden ruins, legendary pirate alliances, and a much larger conflict that could change the future of the Creed. Resynced brings Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag back with a refreshed modern presentation, giving Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure a cleaner, sharper feel while keeping the core story, naval exploration, and Caribbean atmosphere that made the original so beloved.
