Islamic Center director says mosque shooting tragedy unlike anything they’ve experienced before

Five individuals were killed, including two suspects, in a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, police said during a press conference on Monday. Police said the two male suspects, ages 17 and 19, appeared to have died from "self-inflicted gunshot wounds." Police officers found the two suspected male shooters dead inside a car. San Diego Police also said the threat was neutralized in an update shared on X just after 4 p.m. EST. San Diego police responded to reports of a possible active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday afternoon, authorities said. "In 28 years, this is the most dynamic response I have ever seen in policing," San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said during the briefing. Police have yet to release the identities of the victims. However, one is a security guard who works at the mosque.
