Description

Seeds of common groundsel (aka old-man-in-the-spring; Senecio vulgaris, family Asteraceae) with white fluffy pappus were dispersed by the wind, after the petalless yellow flowers had been pollinated by insects. The moments of blown away were replayed at 5x slow-motion. I had to shake and loose the entangled pappi to demonstrate the wind dispersal. Captured in the cloudy midafternoon (around 15:35 PM) of late-November 2024 beside the farm road in Japan.
