Description

I make a trip to my off grid cabin in the extreme cold. On the way there, I get lost in the dark and find myself walking in circles. I could find my hidden trail and begin to panic. After calming myself down, I eventually find the trail and arrived at the cabin. I brought out the fire pucks I had made previously, but with wet twigs it was still difficult for the fire to get going. I left in a hurry on my last trip and didn't leave myself with dry kindling or restock the cabin with firewood. After I warmed up by the woodstove, I bring more firewood over to the cabin that I cut previously. I split more kindling and drag a dead standing tree that I had cut down on my last trip. I tried to finish up all the jobs that were left unfinished before it got too late. I decided to put my window covers on to keep out that cold air before heading inside for the night. I worked up quite the appetite in the cold and made pork sausages with beans and toast. I went to bed shortly after eating, and had a decent sleep despite the cold weather outside. In the morning I had tea and some leftovers, then worked on knitting my cabin socks. My wife couldn't pick me up till later in the afternoon due to her busy schedule, so I spent the day relaxing, doing dishes, and had a short nap. Later, I put everything away, packed and locked up, then made the long, exhausting trek to the road for pick up. The video follows the creator's trip to his off-grid cabin in extreme cold. He recounts getting lost on his way to the cabin (6:20-8:42), walking in circles in the dark until he eventually found his hidden trail. Upon arriving, he struggled to get a fire going due to wet kindling (0:31). He then focused on various tasks, including unloading firewood (0:46), splitting more kindling (1:58), and dragging a fallen tree to the cabin (3:10). To combat the cold, he put up window covers (2:33) and a blanket over the door (4:17). The creator checks the weather forecast, noting the extremely low temperatures and wind chill (4:31). He prepares and eats a meal of pork sausages, beans, and toast (5:09) before heading to bed. The next morning, he enjoys tea and leftovers (9:59) and works on knitting cabin socks (11:54). He talks about the bitterly cold wind and snow, and hopes his wife can pick him up later that day (12:42). Before leaving, he does dishes (14:35), packs up, and makes the trek back to the road (16:15).
