Rescuer Naude is right on its heels, net ready, targeting a young seal tightly bound by a loop of plastic packaging strap. For a rescuer, snipping the loop takes just a few seconds before moving on with the day. But for a marine mammal, these entanglements are a slow, fatal death sentence. Seals possess no tools, no hands, and no natural skills to free themselves.
