Description
Some sins don’t feel like sins. They feel like “normal life.”
A comment.
A joke.
A glance.
A scroll.
And slowly, the heart becomes heavier without noticing why.
In Episode 10 of Journey Into the Heart, Mufti Azeemuddin explores the two major gates into the heart: the tongue and the eyes.
Allah says:
“He does not utter a word except that with him is an observer ready.”
— Qur’an 50:18
And He commands:
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. That is purer for them.”
— Qur’an 24:30
“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity.”
— Qur’an 24:31
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.”
Ramadan is meant to discipline these gates.
It is not enough to leave food while the tongue spreads poison.
Not enough to leave drink while the eyes feast on what weakens the heart.
Guard these two gates.
And the heart becomes lighter.
And when the heart becomes lighter, worship becomes easier.
