Cottingley railway station is a suburban railway station serving the Cottingley area of south-west Leeds, West Yorkshire. It lies on the Huddersfield Line between Leeds and Huddersfield and is part of the West Yorkshire rail network. The station is located approximately 4 miles south-west of Leeds city centre and provides a local stopping point on a busy trans-Pennine route that carries both passenger and freight services. The station was opened in 1988, making it relatively modern compared with many other stations in the Leeds area. Its construction was linked to residential growth in Cottingley and surrounding districts, as well as the need to improve local rail access without relying solely on Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway or central Leeds stations. Despite its suburban role, Cottingley sits on a historically important railway corridor originally developed in the mid-19th century by the London and North Western Railway. Cottingley railway station has two platforms, serving trains in both directions. The platforms are connected by a footbridge, as there is no level crossing between them.
