Description

The Alexandre III Bridge is undoubtedly the most monumental in Paris. Richly decorated, it has spanned the Seine with a single arch since 1900, linking the 7th to the 8th arrondissement. It is also one of the most beautiful, due to its location, between the Esplanade des Invalides on one side and the Grand Palais on the other, and due to its architecture.
Built by the engineers Jean Résal and Amédée Alby, accompanied by the architects Cassien-Bernard and Gaston Cousin, the Alexandre III Bridge was designed with the aim of hosting the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
Thus, if the first stone of this architectural symbol was laid on October 7, 1896 by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna and President Félix Faure, it is after 4 years of hard work that the Alexandre III Bridge will be finally inaugurated by the President of the Republic Emile Loubet on April 14, 1900, on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition.
I now invite you to discover the photos, videos and slideshow that I made of this architectural masterpiece full of history and symbols đ
