The body-worn cameras from the 2023 show the Gig Harbor Police response to a report of an unwanted person in the Uptown Galaxy Theater parking lot (4700 Pt. Fosdick Dr.) on Jan. 4, 2023.
Police were dispatched after the Uptown Complex property manager reported a driver in a gray Toyota Corolla throwing peanuts in the parking lot and refusing to leave private property when asked. In her statement, she said the driver told her she was “violating his rights,” said he was “not a citizen,” and refused to leave the Uptown area when told to go elsewhere to feed birds. She also requested a no-trespass order for the Uptown area.
Officers contacted the driver, identified as Aleksandr Shablykin, who argued “Foreign Sovereign Citizen” ideology and refused orders to shut off the vehicle and get out of his car.
Police said dispatch advised there were two Gig Harbor Police Department warrants for Shablykin and that his driver’s license was suspended. Officers arrested Shablykin and transported him to Gig Harbor Police Department. Police said he was then booked into Kitsap County Jail.
According to the report, Shablykin was cited for second-degree trespassing, driving with a suspended license, and an infraction for failing to renew tabs for more than two months. Police also issued a trespass admonishment form at the property manager’s request.
