Description
► A motorist waiting at a red light captured the moment a machete-fight broke out between two groups of young men in the middle of the day.
The video, captured on Saturday in Jackson Crescent, Hulme around 3pm, shows three men on two electric bikes next to a parked car.
While the passenger on one bike gets off, the two riders swing machetes at the driver and his passenger.
The rider on the passenger side of the car quickly speeds off, as the driver of the vehicle charges at his attacker. The car’s passenger, now armed with a machete, goes after the other attacker, before the four men, all armed with machetes, square off.
The man recording the incident can be heard saying, “Welcome to Britain guys, welcome to England. This is the s*it we have to put up with day in and day out.”
As the light turns green, the men get back in their car and drive off – something not lost on those who watched the video on social media.
“All that within one red light cycle. Soon as it turned green, they were back on their journey,” one person wrote.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that two men suffered serious injuries and remain in hospital following the incident.
A boy, 17, has been arrested on suspicion of affray, assault, grievous bodily harm and possession with intent to supply class B drugs and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of a class B drug and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.
They both remain in custody for questioning.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and locate other suspects,” GMP said, while urging anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
