This is an equivalent way I came up with of learning how to hit down with a fairway wood off a range mat instead of off turf and plugging it into the ground like it is normally done . If you are thinking of doing this drill I would try it with caution as it could potentially cause an injury depending on the size of the hole . By putting the ball further into the ground, it makes you have to hit on a downwards angle to ‘get underneath it’ which will in turn pop the ball into the air .
