Lawrence, Marion County, Indiana --- Police said, this critical incident video details an officer-involved shooting that occurred on December 30, 2024, just after 4:15 P.M. Shortly after 4 P.M., Lawrence Police Department LPD Officer Gordon initiated a traffic stop in the 6900 block of Pendleton Pike. During the stop, a woman exited the car and the driver, 48-year-old Kenneth Roberts Jr., sped away. As seen in the LPD dash cam video, Mr.Roberts fired multiple rounds circled in red through his rear window at Officer Gordon. IMPD officers responded to assist and join the pursuit in the area of East 38th Street and North Arlington Avenue. A public safety camera captured Mr. Roberts driving the wrong way on North Arlington at the intersection of East 34th Street with officers in pursuit. As Mr.Roberts drove South on North Arlington Avenue, LPD Officer Gordon stated on the radio that Mr.Roberts fired more shots. Mr.Roberts drove east on East 30th Street. LPD Officer Gordon fired his rifle again. Mr.Roberts came to a stop in the 6500 block where additional shots were fired. As Officer Gordon was firing his rifle, another LPD officer can be heard on the radio saying that Mr. Roberts continued to fire at officers. Officer Gordon exited his vehicle and continued to engage Mr.Roberts. LPD Officer Agresta was the second officer to arrive on scene and also discharged his service weapon. IMPD Officer Duckett exited his patrol vehicle and discharged his service weapon along with LPD officers Gordon and Agresta. For several minutes, officers continued to give commands to Mr. Roberts to exit the vehicle with his hands up. An armored vehicle was used to safely approach Mr. Roberts' car where officers found him unresponsive. Roberts was removed from the car and placed into custody. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services personnel,already staged nearby, responded and pronounced Mr. Roberts deceased at the scene. A firearm was located near Mr. Roberts. No officers or other uninvolved citizens were physically harmed in this incident police said.
