Description

A Japanese badger (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae) sniffing around the communal latrine of Japanese serows (Capricornis crispus, family Bovidae) in the mountain forest. It was the first time a badger was caught on trailcam at this site. Captured with my old trailcam after dark (around 17:35 PM) of mid-October 2024 in Japan. The sunset time was 17:04 PM.
