Description

Primitive skills require a deep understanding of the natural world to successfully hunt and gather food in the wild. Knowing where to look for food is just as important as having the tools to get the job done. But sometimes our complex human minds can complicate a task when the only tool needed is a long slender stick. Stingrays are found in shallow sandy waters of tropical and subtropical seas around the world. They have sharp venomous spines on their tails that can inflict a very painful sting when they are threatened. Each year thousands of beach-goers get stung by stingrays. The stingray shuffle is an effective technique of scooting or shuffling one's feet on the bottom to avoid stepping on top of a stingray. This way the stingray detects the approaching human and then swims away. www.instagram.com/chadzuberofficial www.facebook.com/ChadZAdventure Sign up for my newsletter: http://eepurl.com/jfZxG-/ Check out my ebook here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DC5FN3K9 Key moments: 00:00 Returning to my hut with materials 00:25 Hand drill friction fire 03:53 Making a spear head 07:13 Preparing the shaft 08:44 Making pine pitch glue 11:04 Gluing cane to bottom of shaft 12:08 Gluing spear head to shaft 13:59 Making atlatl 14:46 Hunting stingrays at the beach 15:59 Spearhead broke 16:15 Trying other spear 17:03 Successfully spearing a stingray 18:08 Exploring the reef underwater 18:34 Removing the liver and entrails of the stingray 19:22 Testing out the atlatl Music credits: Drums of the Deep by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
