Biggest change to local government since 1989 | Now You Know | The Spinoff

The government has announced a proposal for the most radical reform to local government in more than 35 years. Under the proposal, regional councillors would be removed from their positions. Instead, each regional council would be run by a board of mayors from that region.  These Council Territories Boards would then have two years to decide the future of local government in their regions.
