Renowned Australian Pathologist Professor Richard Scolyer will receive a state funeral in recognition of his life, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed this morning. The 59-year-old made global headlines when he underwent a world-first experimental treatment for his glioblastoma. The treatment was based on groundbreaking skin cancer research – for which he and fellow researcher, Professor Georgina Long, were jointly awarded Australian of the Year in 2024.
