Military tank convoy escorted by police through Wales

Police escort a convoy of Challenger 2 battle tanks hauled by Oshkosh transporters. The military vehicles have been returning from Castlemartin Ranges in Pembrokeshire, ahead of the Easter holidays. The Challenger 2 is the Main Battle Tank (MBT) of the British Army and is operated by The King's Royal Hussars, The Queen's Royal Hussars & The Royal Tank Regiment at Tidworth Camp, Wiltshire. The Oshkosh 1070F 8x8 is the tractor unit of the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) tasked with pulling Challenger 2s and other heavy vehicles on the 14 wheeled King Trailers seen in the video. These are operated by 19 Tank Transporter Squadron of the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) at Bulford Camp, and also FTX Logistics Ltd (KBR owned), who are contracted to the Ministry of Defence to provide transport during peacetime. With the tanks is a Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (CRARRV) of the Royal Electrical & Mechnical Engineers (REME) for recovery if needed. The convoy of abnormal loads were escorted by Dyfed Powys Police through the entirety of South Wales. The police utilized Volvo V90 traffic cars and BMW R1200 motorcycles working with Ford Transit escort vans provided by FTX Logistics.
