Keir Starmer has announced a sweeping ban on under-16s using a range of social media, hailing it as a “big moment for our country” in a Downing Street statement. The move follows a major public consultation, with more than 116,000 people across the UK taking part, including 54,000 parents. Australia already enforces age limits on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, Twitch and Kick.
