Aligarh Muslim University established by a prominent figure of Indian History Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. Aligarh Muslim University was founded in the year 1875 as a small madrasa named Madrasatul Uloom, which later changed into Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College and after that it was converted into a University. AMU played a major role in Indian Educational system. In 1920, when this college was given the status of a university, Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan of Mahmudabad donated lakhs of rupees to this university. Aligarh University produced revolutionaries like Maulana Hasrat Mohani, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar, Abdul Ghaffar Khan, Maulana Hasrat Mohani, Raja Mahendra Pratap, Saifuddin Kichloo, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shibli Nomani, Hali, Nazir Ahmed Mohammad Hussain Azad who played a decisive role in India's independence. Hasrat Mohani, who gave the slogan of Inquilab Zindabad, was a student of Aligarh Muslim University. Aligarh Muslim University produced so many scientists and politicians. Even today, a large number of scientists working in institutions like NASA have received education from Aligarh Muslim University.
