Description

https://buymeacoffee.com/g0ojf Here's popular (at the time) 1981 40-channel 2W handheld. Dead set was reported. Upon test I found a short circuit on the 9V regulator line. Replacing the zener reference diode & associated transistor brought back power. The next snag was the short circuit had burnt out the contacts on the on/off switch. Luckily I had the remains of a scrap chassis & was able to harvest a replacement on/off volume control from that. After alignment, the radio slightly exceeded specification. However, the meter turned out to no longer work; there's nothing I can do about that. I think the set has been over-volted...10 batteries instead of 8? It's in such great condition I just think whatever happemed to it happeed a very long time ago.
