Description

"Static Hermes" is no longer the codename, it's now Hermes V1. Nicola Corti (Meta) explains what this new engine (experimental in RN 0.82) actually ships. For two years, performance boosts from the static exploration branch never shipped. Hermes V1 finally brings them to users. It's not the default yet. Nicola explains: ➡️ You must "build from source" to try it (slowing your build temporarily). ➡️ This is needed to get feedback from large apps. ➡️ It will natively support methods like `Set` and `Map` (no more polyfills). ➡️ The goal is to make V1 the stable default in 2-3 releases (early 2026).
