Osteoporosis drugs & new FDA fracture warnings 🚨

The FDA has updated safety labels for several bisphosphonate medications including Fosamax, Reclast, Actonel, Atelvia, Binosto, Fosamax Plus D, and ibandronate sodium (Boniva generic). These drugs are commonly used to treat or prevent osteoporosis by slowing bone loss. The update expands warnings about “atypical” fractures — previously focused on the thigh bone — to include other bones. In some cases, fractures may happen with little or no trauma. Watch for warning signs like new, dull pain in the thigh, hip, groin, or other areas in the days or weeks before a fracture.
