Lil Sis eats a rotten dried potato – with Sprinkles! Also featuring time travel! Australian Magpies

I found the whole family in front of the veg patch. I set up the camera and dropped some sprinkles (dried mealworms) on come corrugated iron. They ate some but Lil Sis found her pre-loved rotten potato and chowed down on that. Don't miss 9:37. I thought the sound of magpies walking on and pecking the corrugated would be interesting but in the end Lil Sis used it as a plate for her potato. All credit to her for staying in shot while she broke down her potato. AND she was facing the camera when she wrestled with it. She's learning... I filmed the potato harvest a while back and almost deleted the footage as the experiment failed. I could use the drive space but I remembered that in the past I've regretted deleting stuff and thought I”d hang on to the footage until I was desperate for space. Good thing I did as it came in handy. Lil Sis was all over the potato harvest – in the cart, roaming around etc – until she found that potato. I did give her that big worm and while at first she stuck with the potato, she did end up eating it and going back to the potato. Now 16 days ago it was a blackened, soggy mess of a seed potato. I avoided smelling it as I was sure it would be rancid. While I said she can't eat it, what I really meant was that she wouldn't like it. You can see the roots of the potato while she's pulling it apart. I have just discovered that uncooked potatoes contain solanine which is bad for magpies. I had no idea 16 days before and on the current occasion I didn't know she'd found the old spud until I began the edit. In future I will dispose of rotten seed potatoes in a way that avoids the possibility of Lil Sis eating them. Cheers folks!
