Description

Earlier this month, 25 green and golden bell frogs were released back into the ACT for the first time since the 1980s, marking an incredible step forward in the global fight against the devastating chytrid fungus. Symbio Wildlife Park and Symbio Conservation Foundation are proud to have partnered with the University of Canberra to assist with the captive breeding and immunisation of these frogs before their release. For almost 50 years, the iconic call of the green and golden bell frog had fallen silent in some areas. Now, thanks to innovative research, collaborative partnerships and hands-on conservation action, that sound may once again echo through local wetlands. Projects like this highlight the vital role that wildlife parks play in conservation, supporting research, breeding programs and real-world species recovery efforts. We’re honoured to be part of a project helping return a local hero species to the wild.
