PLAYA DE LA ARENA Tenerife Today we are near Los Gigantes on the island of Tenerife, where we visit La Arena and in particular the beach there. Playa de la Arena is a stunning black sand beach located on the west coast of Tenerife, within the municipality of Santiago del Teide. Renowned for its natural volcanic origin, the fine dark sand creates a striking visual contrast against the white foam of the Atlantic waves. This resort area is generally quieter than the bustling hubs of the south, making it a favorite for travelers seeking a more relaxed and authentic atmosphere. The beach has been a consistent recipient of the European Blue Flag for decades, a testament to its exceptional water quality and high standards of cleanliness. The unique composition of the volcanic sand means it absorbs solar heat efficiently, providing a warm surface for sunbathing even during the milder winter months.
