Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR) 20-year anniversary: History, impact and legacy

For the celebration event on 4 March 2026 in the Victorian State Library in Melbourne’s CBD, Professor Emmanuel Kuntsche (CAPR’s current Director) interviewed the following key persons about the history, achievement, and legacy of the Centre: Distinguished Professor Robin Room (CAPR’s Founding Director), Professor Margaret Hamilton (the Founding Director of Turning Point where CAPR was originally located), Emeritus Professor Stephen Kent (Former Dean of the School of Psychology and Public Health of La Trobe University where CAPR is currently located), Michael Thorn (the former CEO of the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education, a former main funder of the Centre), Deepa Balakrishnan (the Director of Research Grant Development and Transformation of La Trobe University), and Associate Professor Michael Livingston (CAPR’s former Deputy Director).
