I’ve painted Milford sound a bunch, and I’ll continue to do so! It’s one of those landscapes that as soon as you experience it, it never leaves you. The majestic peaks leave a lasting impact and the scale is off the charts.
Here in this painting I try to come up with an interesting foreground and use some creative hacks to make a unique arrangement. Driftwood is scattered here throughout the year, I needed something for scale and lighting purposes. My solution? Weeds and twigs! This was pivotal with my references and digital design. I went on to then create a unique version of this iconic scene.
Let me know in the comments if you enjoy this style of edit. We’re trialling something a little different!
