Why Georgia is a Real-Life ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ | Doctor Reacts

The dystopian show “The Handmaid’s Tale” continues to be frustratingly, horrifyingly close to real life in the United States. Currently, the state of Georgia is keeping a brain-dead pregnant woman alive from gestation week 9 onwards due to the state’s abortion laws and AGAINST the wishes of her family. Having seen a similar situation in my training, I’m not saying that the family shouldn’t be allowed to pursue this…but they didn’t even have a choice. The state forcing hospitals to treat people this way is disgusting and rife with poor medical and ethical outcomes. Let’s talk about it.
