Back Doors Lock FAILED… Had To Break Into Our Own Van

It started when the rear door handle snapped clean off, leaving us locked out of the back with the bed, mattress and all our gear trapped inside. It’s not just annoying — it’s a serious safety issue because the rear doors are a key escape route in an emergency. We manage a temporary string pull-cord bodge just to get the latch working, then order parts and start swapping the rear door handle and lock mechanism. For a moment it looks like we’ve fixed it… until the doors jam again, we’re back inside the van fighting for access, and things escalate into brute-force problem solving. Even after fitting a brand new lock assembly, the doors keep doing something weird — they’ll lock on the key fob but won’t unlock, like they’re stuck in a deadlock mode. We’ve changed locks, checked cables, tested the latches, and we’re still stuck with rear doors we can’t trust.
