Ingredients
Rice flour - 1 1/2 cup
Jaggery -3/4 cup
Grated coconut-2 cup
Coconut pieces - 1 cup
Dry ginger powder -1 tsp
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Cashew nut - 20 to 25 nos
Raisins - 25 to 30 nos
Ghee - 2 to 3 tsp
Method
Heat a pan add jaggery and water boil them well.
Then grated the coconut and set aside.
Ones the jaggary is well boiled remove from fire and set aside.
Then drain the jaggery water and set aside.
Then chopped the coconut pieces and set aside.
Heat ghee in a pan add chopped coconut pieces
saute for few minutes ,then add cashewnut .
saute them well for few minutes.
Add raisins and saute and fry them well.
Drain from pan and set aside.
pour the jaggary water in to the frying pan .
Boil them well ,add grated coconut ,dry ginger powder and cardamom powder .
Saute them well for few minutes.
Remove from fire and set aside.
Take a a bowl add rice flour,fried coconut pieces ,raisins and cashewnut
Then add coconut jaggery mix and combine them well.
Pour sufficent amount of water , mix them well.
Then add jaggery water ,Combine them well the batter is not to thick or loose.
Take a banana leaves and fold it into half then two sides just rolled in to the inner side.
Then pour the batter into the folding gap and tie with a banana string and set aside.
Again continuing the same process in balance batter andset aside.
Then placed the dough kizhi in a steamer, cover and cook them well.
Ones it is well cooked remove from steamer and set aside.
serve the tasty banana leaf kizhi appam with tea or coffee.
